I'm one of those guys who wants to know exactly how things work, so this is really a website for me. Norman, thank you for your great website with so much interesting, detailed information. This was my primary source of information in setting up my own digital darkroom.

I've dabbled in photography since I fist purchased my AE-1 back in the 70's. Recently, I got bit again (bad) after buying a Canon G2. I'm completely hooked on digital photography. Or, to better describe it, digital editing. I can't tell you how much I've learned from reading you excellent site, especially the monitor and printer calibration and the background of how all of this stuff works together. Where else could I have learned why my 4 color printer wasn't good enough to reproduce all colors (it used to look OK to me). Being an EE type, I'm able to understand the frequency domain analogies into the "spacial" world. Still there are many curious questions I'd love to ask.
If you need a previewer for your book, I'd be happy to contribute. Certainly, I'm not an expert in optics, photography, or FFT's, but I do enjoy creating beautiful photographs. Is your book intended to be a course text or just a general reference? I'll be happy to purchase an early copy.

Thanks for contributing and assembling all of this useful information.

Found you site the same week I acquired my new 10D. I am a Picture Window user since v1.0. While I've journeyed into many other editors (PS, et al), I still return to Picture Window. The best part of PW is its creator, Jonathan Sachs. He answers most questions within minutes. The list of problems solved by Jonathan would fill your screen. I know I'll be spending many hours reviewing your informative topics. Thanks

Norman I have just discovered your site 'accidently' I am very excited about your programme picture perfect and cant understand why I havent heard of it before!@#@# I have PS& etc etc and find it a very difficult programme to learn because even though it is powerful -= it seems that it is in Adobes intrets to make a huge industry out of encouraging all sorts of 'experts' to write books about it which all seem to say the same few things over and over written in gobbledeegook fashion it has taken me a long time to discover this and a lot of money ..so I am looking forward to trying your software and reading your tutorials and buying it. Also Photoshop ISNT photographer friendly..!! SHEESH I am glad I have vented all that :) You amy like to know I arrived here via photonet and I am NOT impressed that a few so called self proclaimed digital gurus have NEVER referred me to your site. Anyway THANK YOU for offering what looks like a serious alternative to PS - wish I could get amore background information on teh product and its history. Best Wishes

Norman,
I can't thank you enough for your web site. It's hard to find someone with a grasp of the "guts" of the craft, as you so ably do. Besides which you are a excellent artist too. I've got some questions for later.
Best Regards, Todd

I have found everything on this site to be very interesting. I've learned so much about the digital darkroom. About your new passion in panorama photography.... Is there a term, or could one be coined, for the vertical panorama? We already use "portrait" or "landscape" to define the orentation of *normal* prints. To me, "panorama" is strictly horizontal. We need something equally descriptive for the wonderful vertical shots that appear in the margins of your homepage each time we vist!

Norman, I found your site 2 yrs ago. A year later I ventured forth and picked up a 2450 on your recommendation. I have had a ball since then, such a pleasure. This year I bought the PICTURE WINDOW pro. software and again it is a real dream to work. Thanks a mil! I have just started to check out your web design pages. Take care and thanks once more.

Norman, I've been lurking around your site for months now. It is an incredible resource and you have my heartfelt thanks for the time, effort, and shear talant that it shows. I recently purchased a Canon 10D, based largely on your comments, and those of Michael Reichmann on his site "The Luminous Landscape". Between the two of you, I've found two lifetimes of experience just for the time to read and seek to understand what you've written for all of us. Many, many thanks.

PS -I was a shutterbug in my previous life. You know Boulder, CO? I was the custom darkroom tech for Mike's Camera in 1982. I have since, never had a job that I have enjoyed as much. My girlfriend at the time , dragged me back east. I have never forgiven her for that.
